In summer, you mostly encounter Göcek through its holiday atmosphere. In autumn, you get a better sense of how local life continues once the crowds have gone.

Take your time. Pick up something to take home. Then sit down for a coffee.

A little note about the evenings

October days in Göcek can still feel very much like summer, but evenings may be cooler.

So alongside your swimwear and sandals, we recommend packing a light cardigan, a long-sleeved shirt and a lightweight rain jacket.

Autumn weather in the Aegean does not always follow the same script. A sunny day can occasionally give way to a brief shower.

But perhaps that is part of the charm of Göcek in October.

Do you need a car?

If you are staying in the centre of Göcek, you can easily spend much of your time on foot. The marina, town centre, restaurants and many everyday essentials are all within easy walking distance.

A car, however, will make it easier if you want to explore places such as Günlüklü, İnlice or Sarıgerme and discover more of the surrounding area.

The fact that Dalaman Airport is only around 20–25 minutes from Göcek also makes the town particularly convenient for a short autumn escape.

Fly in from Istanbul or elsewhere, arrive at your hotel, and within a short while you can settle into Göcek's own rhythm.

Göcek is not a destination known primarily for long sandy beaches or nightlife. Its appeal lies elsewhere: its close relationship with the sea, its beautiful bays, its small centre, its marina, the surrounding nature and the sense of everyday life that continues between them all.

That is why May and October are particularly lovely times to visit Göcek.

Because Göcek does not end when summer does.
